Buffalo Gourds...
Over the past 25 years I have experimented with many different crafts from sewing to woodworking. About 8 years ago I began doing oil painting. I loved seeing how the canvas came alive.
My first experience was working with buffalo gourds found in the desert, then I cut a large gourd for a friend a year ago and became hooked immediately and couldn’t wait to find some gourds to do for myself.
I use a variety of tools and materials in cleaning and designing my gourds. I like experimenting with all types of techniques like dyes, stains, paint, carving, inlaid, and wood burning. I like finding natural things to embellish my gourds but also us turquoise, beads, feathers, leather and other findings.
